Leslie Thomas was one of Britain’s most popular authors for over 40 years. His best known book – The Virgin Soldiers – was made into a very successful film. Further books have been adapted for TV. He has written 30 novels, 3 travel books and 2 biographies. Appointed OBE in 2004 for services to literature, Leslie lived in and near to Salisbury for over 30 years. He died in 2014, his legendary and controversial legacy intact.
